Buy the 2026 Maverick XLT over a Hyundai Santa Cruz, Honda Ridgeline, Toyota Tacoma, or Chevy Colorado because it is the only compact pickup with a standard hybrid. Santa Cruz has no hybrid, about 25 mpg combined, and a smaller bed. Midsize trucks cost more, return the low-20s mpg, and take more space to park. If you commute daily and still need to haul or tow a small trailer, this is the truck that does both without the midsize fuel bill. Choose XLT now, it already has the wheels, keyless access, hitch, and screen XL skips. Real bed, five seats, compact-car mpg. That is why this XLT wins compact truck searches.
